Painting Number One

I have prepared myself for my new paint venture. I bought new brushes, new canvas paper, new paints, new palettes and knives. Already, I've been painting away. And already, I've met nothing but frustration and loss of hope. Painting is nothing like drawing. I feel like I have no control over the paints, and the colors don't mix the way pastels do. Most frustrating, is using up expensive paints and canvas.

Today, I took a different approach. I cut out a piece of old cardboard. I trimmed my brushes down to stubs. I turned on some music I had never heard before, and I painted without references or planning, and most importantly, without fear.

I like my painting.
I like my cardboard.
And I like my stub brushes.
